Crewe Alexandra FC - Gresty Road 1

Crewe Alexandra FC – Gresty Road

Stadium Info

Gresty Road boasts a capacity of just over 10,000, with the Main Stand holding nearly half of that number, making it the most prominent feature of the stadium. Despite the dominance of the Main Stand, the stadium offers a welcoming atmosphere, thanks to significant regeneration efforts since the early 90s. It now provides a comfortable and enjoyable experience for visitors, with few bad seats to be found. The club is also proud of its excellent disabled facilities, which are among the best in the football league.

Away Fans

Away supporters are located in the Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Van Stand, positioned along one side of the pitch. This stand is also where the television cameras are placed, so you’re unlikely to catch yourself on TV. The stand can accommodate up to 1,700 fans, and if the allocation is full, it’s advisable to avoid the back rows where two supporting pillars can obscure the view for some seats in the top rows.

Where To Drink

Most public houses welcome away fans, though the fact that nearly all have security on the door can be slightly off-putting for many visiting fans. Away fans are welcome in Clancy’s Bar, The Bank, Last Orders Inn and The Office all within a couple of minutes walk of the ground. Not all the pubs allow children in, it’s really a case of asking the security on the door. Most have the usual facilities and show Sky Sports so you can watch the early kick off’s and catch up on the final scores from around the grounds.

There are many fast food, sandwich and pie outlets situated on Gresty Road and in the surrounding area. Possibly the best choice, so near to a football ground, in England. Gresty Road Chop Shop opposite the ground has the best pie and chips I’ve ever had before a game. Worth a visit.

Parking

There is space for 400 cars in behind the Railtrack stand and if this is full when you arrive, street parking is freely available in the surrounding areas within a 10 minute walk of the stadium. Alternatively buses run regularly to and from the stadium so access is very easy. There are queues for the buses after the full time whistle but with the small crowds generally found inside Gresty Rd these days it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
