Barrow AFC – Home at Holker Street Stadium
Holker Street Stadium Overview
Holker Street is a traditional ground with a classic feel, recently modernized by adding a roof over the Holker Street End. The stadium features Barrow AFC’s signature blue and white colors, giving it a vibrant and distinctive appearance.
The main stand, named the Brian Arrowsmith Stand, honors a former player and manager who dedicated his career to the club. This stand is seated, covered, and positioned on the halfway line, raised above pitch level with stair access. Running for about half the length of the pitch, it has supporting pillars along the front and flat standing areas on either side.
The Popular Side Stand is a covered central terrace on one side of the ground, while the Crossbar Terrace (also called the Steelworks End) is a small, open terrace. The opposite side is largely occupied by club offices, which slightly disrupt the stadium’s cohesive look.
The Holker Street Terrace, now roofed for better coverage, is larger and split between home and away supporters. The stadium features modern floodlights, though the older, classic floodlights still remain in place, adding a nostalgic charm to the venue.
Away Fans at Holker Street
Visiting supporters are primarily located on one side of the Holker Street Terrace, towards the Brian Arrowsmith Stand, at one end of the ground. Additional standing space is also available beside the Brian Arrowsmith Stand. However, a dividing fence segregates fans in this area, preventing away supporters from standing directly behind the goal.
In the summer of 2020, a roof was added over the entire Holker Street End, offering much-needed cover for visiting fans and enhancing the overall atmosphere. Away fans can also access a limited number of seats in the covered Brian Arrowsmith Stand. On-site catering typically includes a burger van.
